Sending emails from one account (iCloud) to another (Outlook) results in a slim chance of the mail being delivered to the iMac mail Outlook inbox. I also have problems with Mac Mail sync but only with syncing to the outlook account. I think they're supposed to be in the process of changing that, or they've changed it though.
Matters are further complicated by the fact that BT 'may' be contracting the email side of their ISP business to Yahoo. I only have the two accounts set up in Mail preferences and, as I say, iCloud is disabled. I cannot understand why the BT Email account shows as Yahoo IMAP and as SMTP, and what is doing there, and failing to log on, I don't know. My main email account is with BT, and of course iCloud is there as well even though I have it inactive in my Mail Preferences. To my simple brain there looks to be too many servers there. If I click on the 'Show Details' button, the panel that drops down for all of them is completely blank.
THE BRAIN 9 MAC NOT SYNCING PASSWORD
Verify that username and password are correct.' The red one at the bottom is called (account type 'SMTP') and shows 'Trying to log into this SMTP account failed. The green ones are, from top to bottom, BT Email (account type 'Yahoo! IMAP'), (account type ' SMTP') and iCloud (account type iCloud IMAP). From top to bottom the first three are green status, and the fourth is red. There are four items listed in there, one of which is iCloud that I don't use. Looking at Connection Doctor, (which I admit I never thought of), reveals a puzzling situation. Only one or two seem to be affected, and I cannot determine any factor which is common to these which might be a cause. Most of my messages appear in my inbox, and most that I send get sent satisfactorily. I'm not sure that the troubleshooting guides apply, because the problem I have doesn't seem to be constant or apply to all messages. Conclusive proof, I feel, that Apple Mail isn't mirroring what my IMAP server is displaying.Ĭan anyone offer any advice as to how I might solve this problem with Apple Mail please?
They're still not there, even though both messages are in the inbox on my iPhone and on Webmail. But neither of those two messages has appeared in the Mail inbox on my MBP. They did a load of checks, but they couldn't find the missing message either.įollowing that correspondence I received two emails yesterday afternoon, both of which I picked up on my iPhone. That set alarm bells ringing to me, because now I was sure something was amiss, and so I sought support from my mail provider (BT Internet). It wasn't in the inbox on my iPhone either, and nor was it in the inbox on my Webmail page. It wasn't in the folder I tried to move it to, and nor was it still in my inbox. This has been happening for a few weeks I think, since I installed Yosemite in February.Īnd then yesterday, when I dragged a message from the inbox on my MBP into an IMAP folder, the message disappeared completely. This didn't happen before the inboxes on my two devices mirrored each other, so that if I read a message on one, it showed as read on the other. The first symptom I noticed was that if I picked up and read an email on my iPhone, so that it should be marked as 'read' on my server I think, the email was still in block type in my Apple Mail inbox (as if un-read) when I checked it on my MBP. (And, come to think, I installed the 'supplemental update' to 10.10.3 yesterday, but I doubt if that is relevant.) Lately I have noticed that something isn't working correctly, and I have a feeling that the problems began after I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite.
I have Mail version 8.2 (2098) which I have set to connect to my mail server using IMAP.
THE BRAIN 9 MAC NOT SYNCING PRO
I have a late 2010 MacBook Pro and I use the integral Apple Mail app as my email client.
